ANSWERS

1.1. We will be staying in Courchevel 1550/1650. Can my lesson begin here? Where are the
departure points for private lessons? Can I be met at my hotel?

The ESF in Courchevel 1850 has offices and departure points in 1850 (at La Croisette).
Equally you can be collected from your hotel or Chalet.

1.2. What is the maximum number of people in a private lesson?
      Are the prices per person?

In private lessons, we accept between 1 and 5 people. Within these numbers, the price will be
the same regardless of the number of people.

2.1 Do you have ski classes where only French is spoken, only English is spoken or even
     mixed language classes?

In group classes at all levels you will find a group where we teach in French and another where
we teach in English wherever this is feasible. We also offer the International School which is
specially adapted to the needs of our Anglo-Saxon clients.

2.2 We are a couple with two children who are 8 and 10 years old. We all ski at the same
level. Can we all go to group lessons together?

Teaching methods for children are not really the same as those used for adults and vice-versa.
Consequently we would not be able to accommodate you in a group class; the solution would
probably be for you to have an instructor for private lessons.

2.3 I have 2 children who are 12 and 14 years old. I notice that from the age of 13 they
go to adult classes. What is the best solution if they wish to ski together?

Generally speaking, the biggest or the best skiers should adapt to the level of the weaker ones if
they wish to ski together. We consider a "child" to be from the necessary standard of skiing to
prepare for the 2nd étoile up to the age of 12. Exceptionally, depending on their level of maturity
and their standard of skiing, children who are older than 12 may stay in the children's group
classes and children who are slightly younger (with the agreement of the Technical Director) may
be allowed into the adult classes.

2.4 I am a beginner and I notice that group classes only start on Sundays and Mondays. I
arrive on Wednesday evening - what should I do?

In an attempt to have all beginners at the same level we do not take any more "real" beginners
after Tuesday. This means however that you can catch up with the level of the class after 1 or 2
     private lessons with an instructor.

2.5 What is the maximum number of people in a group class?
There aren't really any hard and fast rules about this, except for certain sections, for
example the International School or Ski Découverte. However, whenever possible we try to
keep the number of people in a group to 10 or 12, depending on the time of the season.

2.6 I should like to learn to ski "off-piste". Is the Ski Découverte class the right one for me?
Absolutely! Depending of course on the snow and weather conditions, our instructors will be
delighted to introduce you to off-piste skiing (required level - class 3).

3.1 I have signed up for a course in snowboarding. Is the equipement included? If not,
     how much will it cost?

We do lend (with caution) wrist protectors for snowboarding. Otherwise snowboard equipment
is not generally included in the price of lessons. Find out about local sports shops here

3.2 I have signed up for a beginners' course in snowboarding for the mornings and the
afternoons. Will this be too intense?

No, but we do advise you to arrive with lots of motivation and in good physical shape.

4.1 My first child will be 3 this winter. Will he be able to ski?
Absolutely. We welcome children from the age of 3 in the Children's Village.

5.1 Are ski passes included in the price?
Ski passes are not included in our prices.

5.2 Which kind of ski pass should I take, Vallée de Courchevel or 3 Valleys?
How much are they? Can we buy them in advance?

It depends on the level of your skiing, how long you will be staying and on the weather
conditions. It is always strongly recommended that strong skiers (étoile d'or for children and
class 3 for adults) should take a 3 Valley ski pass. It is possible to obtain your ski pass in
advance by corresponding directly with the chair lift offices. Click here

6.1 I should like to reserve. What is your availability?
How far in advance should we reserve?

We do not accept any reservations by telephone. The places available fluctuate from one week to
the next, therefore it is recommended that you reserve in the autumn for the following winter. An
acknowledgement of your request will be sent to you and you will only be asked for a deposit
when an instructor has been assigned to you. If you wish to reserve for less than 4 consecutive
days, please enquire at the ESF reception desk in the Croisette on your arrival in the resort.

6.2 May I reserve for a period of less than 5 days (group) / 4 days (private) ?
No. However do come and see us at the ESF reception desk in la Croisette when you arrive
in the resort and we will see what we can do to help you find the right option.

7.1 My child is booked into the 2nd étoile class for mornings and afternoons.
We would like to ski the 3 Valleys. Can we organise something for his midday meal?

Depending on availability, we are able to look after children from the end of their group lesson in
the morning. An appointed person from the Children's Village will pick up your child from
his/her instructor, give them lunch then take them back to their class in the afternoon (please
check the price list for meals).

7.2 Do you rent out equipement? If not, how much is the rent charge?
No, we do not rent out equipment. We advise you to look at the sports shops in the resort
which will be only too pleased to help.

7.3 I would like some information on the difficulty of the slopes and do you have snow canons?
The slopes in the Valley of Courchevel span a complete range of difficulties. Every skier will find
slopes geared to his or her level of skiing. They comprise: 26 green slopes, 29 blue slopes, 11
black slopes and 485 snow canons and this is just in the Courchevel Valley!

7.4 Can you please give me some information about hotels and apartments to rent?
You will find all of this information on the Tourist Office web site. Click here

7.5 Are courses available for disabled people?
We do have a ski instructress who specialises in teaching skiing to people with hearing
difficulties. Several instructors can teach skiing to people with other disabilities. They are at your disposal.

7.6 What time do your offices open?
In the winter season: 8:30am to 7:00pm non-stop.
Out of season: from 9:00am to 12:00pm and from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
